Stephen Jones - Partner

Stephen JonesSteve specialises in all areas of criminal law with emphasis on serious violent crime and drugs related offences. A specialist in criminal law with an increasing emphasis upon serious fraud and corporate defendant representation. Steve qualified as a solicitor in 1993 and has worked in South Wales as a senior criminal solicitor since then. Steve is a Solicitor Advocate at Higher Courts and is a lecturer for South Wales, Gwent and Dyfed Powys Constabulary. In his spare time he enjoys all sports, particularly skiing, golf and motorcycling.

Huw Bowden - Partner

Huw BowdenHuw specialises in all areas of criminal law. Educated at Cardiff University and having been articled in his home town of Abergavenny Huw has practiced in Cardiff since 1996. Huw is a Solicitor Advocate at Higher Courts and in the last 5 years has dealt with a number of high profile cases before the Crown Court and Court of Appeal specialising in prison law and miscarriage of justice cases. Huw is a governor of his two sons school in Abergavenny where he is also a coach at Mardy Juniors AFC and runs a local cricket team.

James Pearn - Partner

James PearnJames is a Solicitor with many years experience dealing with litigation, residential and commercial conveyancing. Having trained at a South Wales practice James was admitted as a Solicitor in 1993. James joined Bowden Jones as a partner in the Conveyancing Department in 2005. James specialises in conveyancing work and he is able deal with all matters arising from property transactions. He is also an experienced litigator dealing with breach of contract claims, personal injury claims and commercial disputes. In addition he is an accomplished criminal advocate. James is a member of APIL (Association of Personal Injury Lawyers). Outside work he is football coach and also enjoys all forms of sport and having been a former rugby player for many local teams.

Sarah Driscoll - Partner

Sarah DriscollHaving graduated in her home town of Liverpool, Sarah took up her training contract in South Wales and has been here ever since. Sarah is a committed criminal lawyer with over 10 years experience having conducted many high profile Crown Court cases. She is widely regarded as a Youth Court specialist. She is an avid Liverpool and Everton FC supporter, depending upon who is winning. She is also a keen swimmer and former County netball champion.

Catherine Jones - Associate Solicitor

Catherine JonesCatherine has been working as a specialist personal injury solicitor since 1996. She is an expert in work place accidents and disease including noise induced hearing loss, vibration white finger, repetitive strain injury, latex allergy/dermatitis, asbestosis, mesothelioma and occupational stress claims.

Catherine also has a great deal of experience handling road traffic accident claims, public liability claims including slips and trips, false imprisonment and assault claims. She is an approved senior litigator of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers who has handled many complex and serious injury cases including some of the first successful claims against Swansea NHS Trust for latex allergy and running successful trials for occupational stress for a financial consultant and a
probation worker. In her spare time Catherine is a keen mountain walker, musician, enjoys travel,
keeping chickens and bees.

Sheila Bowden - Consultant

Shirley EvansAfter working as a teacher for over 20 years Sheila re-qualified as a solicitor in the late 1990’s and worked for the Crown Prosecution Service. She has been working for Bowden Jones Solicitors since 2003 in their serious crime department dealing with a whole range of serious and complex crimes. Sheila’s attention to detail is constantly commented upon by clients, barristers and more importantly the Prosecution. She is an invaluable member of the team.

Shirley Evans - Criminal Executive

Shirley EvansShirley started her career as a legal secretary working her way up to a personal assistant specialising in crime where she developed her skills over a period of 20 years. She joined the criminal department of BJS in May 2007 and has since become a fully accredited police station representative. Shirley has vast experience in preparing cases for Crown Court trials and since joining the Crown Court Department of BJS has been instrumental in many successful acquittals. Shirley is also mainly responsible for the costings of the crown court files for taxation. Her spare time is taken up with running her own legal costings business from home and spending time with her teenage daughter.

George Shelley - Criminal Executive

George ShelleyGeorge has been with Bowden Jones Solicitors since its inception. He is a fully Accredited Police Station Representative and a member of Bowden Jones Crown Court department having experience in high profile South Wales cases including people trafficking and murder cases from the initial police interview stage through to Crown Court preparation and trial. George is frequently involved in prison law matters attending independent adjudications. He likes keeping fit, enjoys playing football (is a former member of Pentwyn Dynamoes F.C.) and surfing. Watches all sports particularly football, rugby and boxing with a particular love of Glasgow Rangers F.C.

Julie Harris - Conveyancing Executive

Julie HarrisJulie has a vast experience of dealing with conveyancing matters having worked as a personal assistant and conveyancing executive for many years. Julie was educated at Cardiff University and is a dog enthusiast having kept dogs for over 20 years and interested in dog behaviour She is a member of Cardiff Rugby Club and is an avid follower of horse racing.

Susan Joyce - Conveyancing Executive

Susan JoyceSusan has worked for Bowden Jones since its inception and is an experienced conveyancing executive carrying out many of the procedural elements of conveyancing transactions and other civil matters. She is a mother of three and spends much of her time supporting them in their sporting activities.

Alex Thomas - Receptionist

Alex ThomasAlex joined Bowden Jones in 2009 as a part-time receptionist and executive assistant in our personal injury department. She enjoys socialising and is also kept busy looking after her two young children.




Sam John - Office Assistant

Sam JohnSam originally came to Bowden Jones as a receptionist in January 2006 and has gradually worked her way up to become a competent typist/assistant. Outside work she enjoys socialising and going to the gym.
